Unless you decouple your chrome profile from your google account, I'd say the easiest way to keep your searches and web history from being logged would be to just tell google history to stay paused.
At least in 2017 when I first posted in this thread, admins for Google Apps for Education and Google Apps for Work cannot specifically see Google search history simply by virtue of being an admin. In other words, there is no Google mechanism available to make Google searches visible to Google Apps admins. The easiest way to get to Google Search History is to simply start in Google Maps. Look on the lower right corner for the ‘gear’ icon and click on it:

Apr 14, 2016 · A few weeks ago, I helping my mother to personalize a new phone. As I'm looking at her phone, I went into Google and noticed that all of my Google searches were showing up in her search history ! I was dumbfounded and shocked to say the least. I have no idea how this happened and I'm worried that it might happen again.
