May 14, 2020 · This year's Tour of Britain scheduled for September has been cancelled and the same route will be used for the 2021 edition, organisers said on Thursday. The high-profile race which attracts The 2012 Tour of Britain was the ninth running of the current Tour of Britain and the 73rd British tour in total. The race consisted of eight stages, starting on 9 September in Ipswich, and finishing on 16 September in Guildford. The race was part of the 2012 UCI Europe Tour, and was categorised by the UCI as a 2.1 category race. The 12th edition of the Tour of Worcester sees major changes to the route after the problems due to the floods in 2019. We still plan to follow parts of the old Tour of Britain route as usual incorporating the tough climbs from all those years ago. It is a first for Kirkcudbright as the harbour town on the Solway coast never hosted the Tour of Britain before.

Even though it started out as a five-stage event, recent editions of the cycling Tour of Britain have been held as an eight-stage event. Now, this number will be increased to nine for the Tour of Britain 2020. Since coming into the UCI Europe Tour, the Tour of Britain route has become much more complex with large predominance for early stages.
The Women's Tour is Britain's most prestigious women's cycling race. Established in 2014, it forms part of the prestigious UCI Women's WorldTour.
